Suriya appears in four different looks within the first 10 seconds of the teaser. Mohanlal, who will be seen playing the role of the PM, seems to have his style inspired by Narendra Modi, complete with the glasses and the jacket. Suriya’s character comes off as a terrorist in the teaser contrary to initial reports that he would be seen playing the Prime Minister’s bodyguard. Kaappaan is set to hit the theatres in August this year.
While Sayyeshaa plays the female lead, those in the supporting cast includes Boman Irani, Samuthirakani, Prem, Cirag Jani, and Mayilsami. The film has been scripted jointly by director KV Anand and veteran writer Pattukottai Prabhakar with the former wielding the megaphone for it. Kaappaan is being bankrolled by A Subashkaran on a huge budget under his banner Lyca Productions.
Harris Jayaraj is the music composer for this flick with Abhinandan Ramanujam roped in as the cinematographer with editing done by Anthony. It may be mentioned here that MS Prabhu had worked as the cinematographer for the first schedule but had to opt out for a various reasons was he was replaced by Abhinandan Ramanujam.
Director KV Anand is associating with Suriya for the third time with their first two films being Ayan and Maattraan. With Kaappaan, movie buffs hope that they would come out with a successful hat trick.
Meanwhile, Suriya's next with Sudha Kongara has been titled Soorarai Pottru. Co-produced by Guneet Monga in association with 2D Entertainment, the regular shooting for it commenced recently. The first look poster has the actor in a typical shirt and dhoti outfit against the background of a gigantic aeroplane. The film will be based on the life of Captain Gopinath of Air Deccan.
The Dhruva Sarja starrer Pogaru is gearing up for the final shoot schedule. With the majority of the film’s shooting wrapped up, the makers are gearing up to shoot the climax scenes from August 19. The climax will be shot at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad and feature a high octane action sequence to be choreographed by Ganesh.
Directed by Nanda Kishore, the film features Shanvi Srivastava and Rashmika Mandanna as the female leads. While Dhananjay and veteran Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu have been roped in to play the baddies in this flick, Raghavendra Rajkumar and Mayuri will play pivotal roles.
It was earlier reported that Arjun Sarja, Dhurva’s uncle, had hopped onboard to finetune the screenplay. Apparently, Dhruva was not happy with the scripting of Pogaru, so he sought his maternal uncle Arjun’s help. Reports say that Arjun worked on the script and made some major changes which the team accepted without any hesitation. According to sources in the know, the Pogaru team had a couple of scripts handy but it was Arjun’s version that met with unanimous approval.
